The Hotel de Ville in Clichy is a cream-colored limestone structure defined by the grand, arched windows across its facade and a clock tower that rises sharply above the roofline. Built in eighteen ninety-two, it replaced an earlier town hall that became too small as Clichy transformed from a quiet village into a bustling industrial suburb of Paris. Architect Louis-Charles Boileau designed this building to project administrative authority, fitting for a town that saw massive growth from manufacturing paint, rubber, and automobiles.
