Maisons colorées de la rue Crémieux

Rue Crémieux stands as a vibrant departure from the grand stone facades typical of Paris. This pedestrian street, stretching just over one hundred and forty meters, is lined with thirty-five individual houses that look more like English terrace cottages than the dense apartment blocks found elsewhere in the city. The uniform, two-story designs were originally built in eighteen sixty-five to house workers, replacing a racetrack known as the National Arena that had occupied the site a decade earlier.
