The Great Pagoda

The Great Pagoda, or Grande Pagode, stands twenty-eight meters tall as an unexpected remnant of a bygone era. It was originally constructed as the Cameroon pavilion for the 1931 International Colonial Exhibition, designed to mimic the architecture of African dwellings. When the exhibition ended, most temporary structures were demolished, but this wooden pavilion was preserved and eventually repurposed for its current religious mission.
