La Colline

The Theatre National de la Colline stands on the site of the former Theatre de l Est Parisien. In the early nineteen eighties, the French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang, commissioned a complete reconstruction to transform the space into a major hub for contemporary drama. The current building opened in nineteen eighty-eight, marking a shift in the city's cultural landscape by establishing a flagship institution in eastern Paris.
