Center for Art and Culture

The Centre Georges Pompidou stands as a defiant architectural statement in the heart of Paris. Its designers, Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers, famously turned the building inside out to prioritize internal space. This approach moved all the functional infrastructure like pipes, structural supports, and even the circulation systems to the outside of the exterior walls. Each system is color-coded for clarity, with blue for air, green for water, yellow for electricity, and red for the movement of people via elevators and escalators. This radical choice created a massive, unobstructed interior volume capable of hosting diverse artistic layouts. By exposing the building's skeleton, the architects made the internal life of the museum visible to the entire city.
