La Nouvelle Ève

La Nouvelle Ève opened its doors on December 24, 1897, but it began its life with a much more modest name, Champ-de-Foire. This small theater sits at the foot of the Montmartre hill in a district once nicknamed the avenue of crime, a title it earned because of the high density of theaters and concert halls that populated the area in the late nineteenth century. The venue served as a hub for artistic experimentation, moving through several identities including the Fantaisies Parisiennes, where it hosted works by celebrated French playwrights of the era.
