Passage Lhomme serves as a quiet witness to the industrial history of the Faubourg Saint-Antoine district. While many Parisian passages were designed as upscale shopping arcades, this one emerged from the neighborhood's long-standing identity as a hub for furniture craft and woodworking. Hidden behind double doors at number twenty-six rue de Charonne, the alley stretches for one hundred and twenty-two meters and was once densely packed with the workshops of skilled craftsmen who relied on the nearby river for their timber. Today, the original ateliers remain, though they now frequently house modern studios and creative offices instead of the traditional woodworkers who once filled the air with the sounds of production.
