Ψαραγορά Μυκόνου

The Mykonos fish market occupies a small, open-fronted building painted white with blue trim, sitting right on the harbor’s edge. Fishermen once hauled their daily catch directly from their boats onto these stone slabs to sell to the islanders. In the nineteen-sixties, the local fishing captain Alekos Kousathanas stood here every morning, weighing octopus and red mullet on old brass scales. Today, the building serves as a quiet reminder of when the harbor functioned primarily as a working pantry for the town.
