Rambagh gate

historic

The Rambagh Gate rises from the city traffic as a massive, fortress-like structure of Nanakshahi bricks, pierced by a tall, arched entryway. Built during the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, this was the primary entrance to his summer palace gardens. Beyond its role as a gate, the structure served as an essential fortification for the city walls. In one famous instance, the gate held fast against persistent cannon fire, leaving pockmarks in the brickwork that are still visible to this day.
