Jora Ghar ( Shoe depositing place )

other

The Jora Ghar is a long, low structure with wide openings that face the cobblestone paths of Atta Mandi. It holds thousands of pairs of shoes left by pilgrims visiting the nearby Golden Temple. Pilgrims deposit their footwear here before walking barefoot into the sacred complex. Workers sit inside all day, sorting shoes into numbered wooden cubicles. The air carries the distinct scent of leather and rubber, a sensory marker for anyone approaching the site.
