Langar Hall of Sri Harmandir Sahib

religious

The Langar Hall at the Sri Harmandir Sahib features a massive, multi-story dining complex topped by a simple, functional roofline that stands apart from the gilded domes nearby. This is the community kitchen where tens of thousands of people eat a free meal every single day. Volunteers prepare lentils, flatbread, and rice in enormous vats regardless of the visitor's caste, creed, or status. The tradition began with the first guru, Guru Nanak, who insisted on sitting together to break down social barriers.
