Bazaar Kathiyan

Bazaar Kathiyan is marked by narrow, winding lanes flanked by deep, multi-story brick residences with intricately carved wooden balconies. This area served as the primary hub for the city’s traditional woodworkers and craftsmen during the nineteenth century. Merchants once brought teak and deodar logs here to be shaped into the ornate doors and structural pillars that define the old city architecture. Legend holds that a master carpenter famously carved a life-sized wooden peacock here, which supposedly fooled local birds before it was sold.
