Hathi Gate

Hathi Gate features a massive stone archway that marks one of the twelve historic entrances into the old walled city of Amritsar. Its name translates to Elephant Gate, a nod to the royal processions that once passed through here with elephants carrying local rulers and dignitaries. While most of the original city walls vanished over time, this structure remains as a heavy, imposing frame. It served as a vital checkpoint for traders and pilgrims arriving from the west for centuries before urban growth surrounded it.
