Sapporo Children's Puppet Theater Koguma-za

The Sapporo Children's Puppet Theater Koguma-za sits inside Nakajima Park as a low, wooden building with a distinctive, pointed roof that mimics the shape of a bear cub's ear. It opened in nineteen seventy-six to serve as a permanent base for puppet troupes in the city. The theater holds a collection of over two thousand puppets, including traditional Japanese marionettes and rod puppets used by local performers. It remains a space dedicated entirely to children's puppet theater productions throughout the year.
