Onsen in Hakone Motoyu Kansuirō

other

The four story building of Motoyu Kansuirō features dark, weathered wooden siding that clings to the steep hillside above the Hayakawa River. Opened in sixteen twenty-four, this inn served as a stop for travelers navigating the old Tokaido road between Edo and Kyoto. The interior holds a legacy of seclusion, having provided lodging for members of the Tokugawa shogunate and later for influential political figures like Ito Hirobumi. The mineral springs here have flowed into the same stone baths for centuries.
