The Tamanoo Bridge spans the Hayakawa River in Tonosawa with a distinct, deep red arched frame that stands out against the surrounding dark mountain foliage. It marks the entrance to the Hakone hot spring area, serving as a gateway for travelers arriving from the direction of Odawara. In the nineteenth century, the poet and novelist Kyoka Izumi stayed at a nearby inn and frequently walked across this bridge, finding deep inspiration in the sound of the river rushing through the gorge below.
