Nanohana

The Nanohana building features a distinct, rounded facade constructed from smooth, light-colored concrete that curves toward the street. It serves as a combined gallery and sweet shop, housing the works of painter Nobuhiko Hiraoka alongside boxes of traditional manju pastries. In nineteen ninety-two, the architect Atsushi Kitagawara designed the space to evoke the imagery of a yellow flower, mirroring the rapeseed blossoms that bloom in the hills nearby. The store remains a quiet point of intersection between local craft, art, and confectionary.
