Marushima Honten sits behind a dark, heavy wooden storefront that looks as it did when the shop opened in nineteen twenty-four. Inside, the shelves hold jars of dried seaweed and stacks of colorful, locally produced paper. When the shop began, it served travelers arriving on the first electrified trains to Yumoto. The owner kept the inventory tied to the specific crafts of the region, and today, you still find the same handmade paper products sitting in the exact same spots.
