Osaka Municipal Housing Museum "Osaka Museum of Housing and Living"

The Osaka Museum of Housing and Living stands out for its full scale reproduction of an entire neighborhood from the Edo period. Visitors walk onto a streetscape complete with houses, a bathhouse, and shops, all built to the actual dimensions of the city as it existed around eighteen thirty. It preserves the everyday world of merchants and artisans who lived in the Tenjinbashi district before the rapid industrialization of the late nineteenth century. You can step inside the period dwellings to observe their layout.
