Casa José Guadalupe Zuno

The Casa José Guadalupe Zuno wears a heavy, fortress-like stone facade that distinguishes it from the surrounding neighborhood. Built in nineteen twenty-three, this mansion belonged to a former governor of Jalisco who wanted to create a center for regional arts and crafts. Zuno filled these rooms with his collection of pre-Hispanic artifacts and paintings by local artists. He hosted famous muralists here, including David Alfaro Siqueiros, who painted a mural directly onto the walls of the house’s interior patio.
