The Casa Azul, or Blue House, wears bright cobalt walls that stand out against the leafy streets of the Coyoacán neighborhood. Frida Kahlo was born in this house in nineteen oh seven, and she lived here until her death in nineteen fifty-four. Her husband, Diego Rivera, spent his final years here as well. The building holds her personal belongings exactly as she left them, including the mirror above her bed that she used to paint her famous self-portraits while recovering from her surgeries.
