Jardín Plaza Hidalgo

The iron kiosk in the center of Jardín Plaza Hidalgo holds a clock that has ticked above the square since nineteen hundred. This garden occupies the site of the former atrium of the church of San Juan Bautista, a space that served the village of Coyoacán long before it became part of the city. In the early twentieth century, the authorities replaced the old stone crosses with this garden to modernize the plaza. The kiosk remains a stubborn landmark of that era.
