Prince's Gate Boutique Hotel

other

The Prince's Gate Hotel features a tall, distinctive clock tower that stands out against the low-slung streetscape of Rotorua. It started life in nineteen twenty-one as the Arawa Hotel, but it traveled here in pieces from a different part of town. The building was moved to this site in nineteen twenty-seven on the back of trucks to serve the growing number of visitors coming to see the thermal springs. It remains a rare, surviving example of the grand colonial hotels built for that era.
