The Fencer Fountain features a bronze student standing shirtless with a rapier pointed toward the sky. Sculpted by Hugo Lederer in nineteen oh four, the figure captures a young man mid-duel, balanced on a stone pedestal surrounded by water. It originally served as a centerpiece for the University of Wrocław, back when the city was German Breslau. Students often whispered that the fountain depicted a scholar who lost his entire tuition in a single night of gambling, leaving him with nothing but his sword.
