Stare Jatki

Stare Jatki is a narrow, cobblestone alley defined by a row of reconstructed medieval stalls. These small brick buildings once housed the city’s butchers, who sold their wares here starting in the thirteenth century. In nineteen forty-five, the street lay in ruins after the Siege of Breslau. It remained a rubble-strewn passage for decades until the city rebuilt the stalls in the nineteen seventies. Today, bronze statues of farm animals stand permanently in front of the doorways where livestock once met their fate.
