The Parish of the Most Holy Name of Jesus is marked by a massive, salmon-colored facade decorated with intricate stone carvings that face the river. Built as the main church for the Jesuit college in the early eighteenth century, the interior is filled with heavy, theatrical frescoes and dark wooden sculptures. Christoph Tausch, an architect and a Jesuit brother, designed the space to overwhelm visitors with its scale. He even painted the ceiling to create the illusion of a sky opening into heaven.
