Tabppang

Tabppang sits in the middle of Gyeongju, defined by a massive, grassy mound that rises abruptly from the flat street level. This is an ancient royal tomb from the Silla Dynasty. While many of the city's burial mounds are fenced off or located within manicured parks, this one rests right against the neighborhood homes. In the nineteen seventies, the ground around the mound slumped after a heavy rain, revealing stone blocks that had been buried for over a thousand years.
