Daereungwon Stone Wall Path

The Daereungwon Stone Wall Path traces the perimeter of a royal burial complex where twenty-three massive, grass-covered mounds hide the tombs of Silla dynasty kings and queens. These hills of earth were built fifteen hundred years ago, yet they remained unexcavated for centuries, preserved by their sheer size. In the nineteen seventies, archaeologists finally entered the Cheonmachong tomb here. They discovered a golden crown and a painting of a white horse on birch bark, confirming the royal status of those buried within.
