The First Church of Chiang Mai

The First Church of Chiang Mai sits on the banks of the Ping River, distinguished by a distinct white bell tower and a series of arched windows. It serves as the oldest Protestant congregation in Northern Thailand, established by Presbyterian missionaries in eighteen sixty-seven. When the church first opened its doors, it operated under the protection of the local prince, who granted the mission land specifically for their work. The original wooden structure eventually gave way to this more durable stone building.
