Gordon Square

Gordon Square takes its name from Lady Georgina Gordon, the second wife of the sixth Duke of Bedford. The Duke owned this land in the early nineteenth century and named the square to honor his wife’s family connection. Before this area became a residential square, the land was part of a larger estate development that transformed this part of London. The Duke’s family, the Russells, were major landowners who meticulously oversaw the development of these garden squares to maintain a specific character for the neighborhood.
