Ministry of Sound

The Ministry of Sound occupies a space that began as a derelict bus garage. When co-founder Justin Berkmann was searching for a name, he considered options like The Ghost and Mrs Chicken before settling on his final choice while walking past the Ministry of Defence main building. The club opened its doors in September 1991, and on that very first night, the founders had not yet secured a liquor license, meaning the crowd danced until dawn without a single drop of alcohol served.
