Thin House

The Thin House stands at the corner of Thurloe Square as a triangular wedge of Victorian architecture. This building occupies a sliver of land that was once a shortcut for local railway workers heading toward the underground tunnels. The structure tapers to a width of only about six feet at its narrowest point because it was designed to fit into the awkward, sharp angle created by the converging streets. Its builders used the unusual geometry to maximize the limited footprint of the lot while preserving the aesthetic appeal of the surrounding terrace.
