Lillie Bridge Depot

Lillie Bridge Depot began as a desperate piece of engineering necessity in eighteen seventy-one. The Metropolitan District Railway had been relying on another company to run their trains, but decided they wanted full control of their own operations. To make this happen, they claimed a stretch of derelict land that had previously been used as a fairground and built a dedicated facility to stable and maintain their own steam locomotives.
