British Library Preservation Advisory Centre

The British Library Preservation Advisory Centre functioned as a national hub for safeguarding the UK's vast cultural heritage, operating until its closure in two thousand fourteen. It was born out of the nineteen eighty-four Ratcliffe Report, which highlighted the urgent need to address the deteriorating state of library and archive collections across the country. By merging with the British Library Collection Care department in two thousand nine, the centre became the primary engine for developing practical preservation strategies, disaster management plans, and environmental monitoring for institutions of all sizes.
