Cotton library

The Cotton Library is not a physical building in Euston, but rather one of the most significant historical collections ever assembled in Britain, which now resides within the British Library on Euston Road. Sir Robert Bruce Cotton began building this massive private collection in 1588, scouring the country for rare manuscripts in the wake of the dissolution of the monasteries. He amassed thousands of irreplaceable documents, including the sole surviving manuscript of Beowulf, the Lindisfarne Gospels, and two original copies of the Magna Carta.
