Omega Workshops

The Omega Workshops opened in nineteen thirteen at thirty-three Fitzroy Square as a radical experiment in interior design. Its founder, the artist and critic Roger Fry, wanted to break down the barrier between fine art and everyday household objects. He invited members of the Bloomsbury Group, including Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, to transform mundane items like chairs, rugs, and ceramics into canvases for bold, abstract colors and shapes. The project aimed to bring the energy of Post-Impressionist painting directly into the domestic lives of Londoners.
