Parasol Unit Foundation for Contemporary Art

The building you are approaching was once a Victorian furniture factory before it was transformed into a center for contemporary art. In two thousand four, art historian and former physical chemist Doctor Ziba Ardalan founded the space here to serve as a platform for artists rather than a repository for a private collection. She specifically chose the name Parasol Unit to emphasize the institution's focus on the creative work occurring inside, rather than attaching her own name to the project.
