Broad Street railway station (England)

You are walking toward the site of what was once one of London's most vital railway gateways. Broad Street station opened in eighteen sixty-five as an ambitious terminus for the North London Railway, designed to ferry passengers and freight directly into the heart of the city's financial district. At its peak in the early twentieth century, it stood as the third-busiest station in all of London, with more than twenty-seven million passengers passing through its doors in a single year. More than one train arrived or departed every minute during the height of the morning rush hour.
