Braganza Street drill hall

The Braganza Street drill hall began its life as two modest residential houses built in eighteen thirty-three. These homes were purchased in eighteen sixty-five by the nineteenth Surrey Rifle Volunteer Corps, a group of citizens who organized themselves to bolster national defense during a period of widespread invasion anxiety. This transition from private dwellings to a military facility marked the start of over a century and a half of continuous use as an active reserve center.
