Brunswick House

Brunswick House stands as an unexpected survival from the eighteenth century, trapped within a dense thicket of modern concrete and glass high-rises. Originally completed in 1758 as a grand private residence called Belmont House, it was built by the Dawson family, who made their fortune in the glassmaking industry. In its prime, the mansion sat on three acres of land and offered sweeping, unobstructed views of the River Thames from its rear and the famous Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens from its front.
