Kensington Square Garden

Kensington Square is the oldest garden square in all of Kensington. It began in sixteen eighty-five when a woodcarver named Thomas Young acquired the land. He envisioned a residential retreat composed of substantial houses for people of quality, and he specifically designed them with private gardens in the back. Unlike many other squares that transformed over the centuries, this one remains a remarkably quiet and residential enclave, keeping much of the original scale and character that Young first appointed over three hundred years ago.
