You are standing before what is now known as Number One Grosvenor Square, a building with a history deeply tied to international diplomacy. Before it became a collection of luxury residences, this site served as the chancery for the United States Embassy starting in nineteen thirty-eight. During the Second World War, the presence of American officials here, combined with General Dwight D. Eisenhower’s nearby headquarters, led locals to jokingly nickname the surrounding area Little America.
