Floating Pocket Park

The Floating Pocket Park sits directly on the waters of the Paddington Basin, utilizing a space that was once reserved for commercial barges. Opened in two thousand seventeen, this structure functions as a buoyant public garden that rises and falls with the canal water levels. It spans seven hundred and thirty square meters and was designed specifically to bring a green, biodiverse landscape to an area previously dominated by hard surfaces and industrial concrete. The park is anchored to the canal bed by heavy chains to prevent it from drifting, while its main body rests on a series of recycled pontoons.
