The Courtyard Theatre

cultural

The Courtyard Theatre occupies the historic Passmore Edwards Free Library, a beautiful Victorian building that opened in eighteen ninety-seven. This structure was funded by the philanthropist John Passmore Edwards, a man known for championing the working classes through his support of over seventy libraries, schools, and hospitals across the country. After the building stopped serving as a public library, it briefly functioned as a rehearsal space for the English National Opera before its current transformation into a vibrant hub for fringe theater and live music.
