Bishopsgate (Low Level) railway station

You are standing near the site of what was once a vital, complex piece of London transport infrastructure. While it is known today as a location for modern rail, the area was defined for over a century by the Bishopsgate railway station. It began its life in eighteen forty as the original terminus for the Eastern Counties Railway, elevated on the historic Braithwaite Viaduct. This viaduct remains one of the oldest railway structures in the world, featuring massive brick arches that were engineered to carry trains through the dense urban landscape of the East End.
