Keeling House

Keeling House stands before you as a striking example of post-war architectural ambition, designed by Sir Denys Lasdun and completed in 1959. Its most distinctive feature is its cluster block design, which features four residential towers interconnected around a single, free-standing central service core. Lasdun specifically conceived this form to translate the social vitality of traditional Victorian terraced streets into a vertical structure. By separating the noisy stairs, lifts, and refuse chutes into the central tower, he aimed to provide residents with both the community connection of a neighborhood and the quiet privacy of a standalone home.
