Foresters Music Hall

The Foresters Music Hall began its life in eighteen fifty as a simple performance space attached to the Artichoke public house. While the pub itself dates back to eighteen twenty-five, the addition of a music and dancing license turned this ordinary neighborhood spot into a vibrant venue for local entertainment. At its height, the hall could accommodate three thousand people, and it became a legendary destination for working-class crowds who packed the space on Mondays for their traditional day off. The stage was considered one of the finest in London, drawing major variety performers who played to famously boisterous audiences.
