The Truman Brewery

The Old Truman Brewery stands on a site that has been a center of industry since the late seventeenth century. What began as the modest Black Eagle Brewhouse around 1666 grew into a sprawling industrial giant that by 1853 held the title of the largest brewery in the world. Its massive operations once covered six acres and produced nearly half a million barrels of beer every single year. The black eagle crest you can still spot on walls throughout this area serves as a permanent reminder of the brewery’s original name and its dominance over the East End landscape.
