Former Marlborough Road tube station

historic

Marlborough Road station opened in eighteen sixty-eight as part of the first northward extension of the Metropolitan Railway from Baker Street. During its seventy years of operation, the station was primarily used by cricket fans heading to the nearby Lord's Cricket Ground, rather than local commuters. Because of this seasonal traffic, the station was often underused for much of the year, leading to a reduction in its operating hours as early as nineteen fourteen.
