Sir Thomas Beecham blue plaque

The blue plaque you see marks the former home of Sir Thomas Beecham, a man widely recognized as Britain’s first truly international conductor. Between 1950 and 1954, he lived in this villa, which dates back to the eighteen twenties. Beecham used his personal fortune to revolutionize the British orchestral landscape, founding both the London Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic orchestras during his career.
